4 Reasons Why Antisemitism Is Growing On The Right

If you have a Biblical worldview, you know that though the Right is much better than the Left, you acknowledge that the Right and the Left are just different arms of the same sinful body.

That doesn’t mean right-wing politics are inherently sinful. Unlike leftism, conservatism doesn’t contradict Christianity. However, Christless conservatives have more in common with leftists than Christians.

These days, it seems like what unites the most bitter people on the Left and the Right is their hate for Jews.

Why have so many professing Christians and people on the Right become anti-Jew? Here are 4 reasons why antisemitism is growing on the Right.

I think one of the most profound words in the Bible is 1 Peter 3:8-9. It’s probably not what most expect when people talk about the most profound Bible verses. But I think it’s because you could be missing its implications. 1 Peter 3:8-9 says:

“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”

In a sense, that is the theme of the Apostle Peter’s message to persecuted Christians. His message is Christians should persevere in righteousness over suffering—just like Christ. One of the essential ways to do that, according to Peter, is that we shouldn’t repay evil for evil.

What makes his words so profound is he suggests the only human who hasn’t repaid evil for evil is Christ (1 Peter 2:21-23). Meaning, we can sum up all of human history with this: repaying evil for evil.

Human history is all about the victims of sin repaying evil for evil. Bitterness is one of the most downplayed yet destructive sins. It produces an unending cycle of sin. We sin against other people and they sin against us in return.

It’s one of the reasons many marriages end in divorce. And it’s one of the reasons antisemitism is growing on the Right.

Wokeness, particularly critical race theory or DEI, has compelled some people on the Right to repay evil for evil. Offended by wokeness’ anti-white ideology, they embraced white nationalism—including its racist views, especially its discriminatory views on Jews. Therefore, they have embraced their version of wokeness as an overreaction.

They say, “woke people are right that there is a group of privileged people who are secretly controlling the world and oppressing others. But white people aren’t the oppressors; Jews are.” That is why they maintain identical views on the Israel-Palestine conflict as woke people.

Another related reason why some people on the Right have become anti-Jew is because of how the media covered COVID and its vaccine. I think some people still haven’t come to terms with the idea that the media’s (and frankly some influential pastor’s) words about COVID and its vaccine in 2020 and 2021 were a watershed moment for many people. When some of the powerful people in our society lied (or defended lies) and branded people who lost their livelihoods and way of life as conspiracy theorists, it compelled them to distrust consensus beliefs. It legitimized all conspiracy theories—including one of the oldest and most popular conspiracy theories: antisemitism.

The 3rd reason is that when Elon Musk restored free speech on X, it encouraged people who were hiding in the dark web to create anonymous accounts on the platform. Their growing presence (with bot accounts) encourages people like Candace Owens to keep feeding them. That makes anti-Jew views less niche online, which inevitably makes them more acceptable to average people.

The final reason is the relationship between isolationism and antisemitism. Isolationism is a foreign policy view that opposes government intervention in foreign conflicts. It suggests that unless a foreign conflict or event directly affects Americans, America shouldn’t provide aid or support. Since America (and other Western nations) have mostly stressed interventionist foreign policies since World War Two and the Holocaust—especially with its relationship with Israel in the Middle East—some isolationists blame Israel for the West’s interventionist policies.

Since they believe interventionism creates more conflicts than peace, they believe Israel and therefore Jews are the threats to peace.

These are the 4 biggest reasons why antisemitism is growing on the Right. Of course, most people on the Right who interventionism, woke ideology, and the media’s lies about COVID and its vaccine are not antisemitic.

However, just as anti-white people are motivated by bitterness over past events, many anti-Jew people on the Right are motivated by recent events. And they are repaying evil for evil—discrimination for discrimination.
